First Step Adolescent Center has a new Medical Director who adds to the agency the capacity for Suboxone assisted Opiate addiction treatment provided on a case by case basis. This is a short term program designed to assist patients toward abstinence from opiates. Use of opioid maintenance medication along with behavioral therapy has been shown to significantly increase long term abstinence rates. The purpose is not to engage in long term use of Suboxone. The purpose of this medication as a support for treatment is to aid the individual toward avoiding severe withdrawal which often leads to relapse, while developing other skills and coping strategies.
In addition, First Step now has available access to our Medical Director during the course of treatment to address more immediately issues that may be a barrier to progress during treatment. For instance, many individuals in treatment report anxiety, difficulty sleeping, depression or concentration problems. Having timely access to our Medical Director will provide more immediate attention to these problem areas which often lead individuals back toward use.
First Step Adolescent Center now has a “Adult Outpatient Program”. We are offering a program for adults in need of outpatient substance abuse/Chemical Dependency services. What is First Step Adolescent Center?
We’re a state licensed program offering chemical dependency outpatient treatment services to families and individuals in Washington and Yamhill Counties in Oregon.
Our Mission
The primary goal of First Step Adolescent Center is to aid adolescent clients in making healthy changes in attitude, thinking and behavior. Believing addiction is a disease, we believe that the focus of the adolescent needs to be on establishing a healthy recovery lifestyle including support from various people and activities.
The goal of treatment is to increase awareness and support change. We work toward this goal through an individualized treatment program designed to meet the specific needs of the client.

First Step Adolescent Center has established a reputation in the community of providing individualized, timely, effective treatment for clients and their families since September, 2000. We are committed to the following:
- Evaluations completed within 72 hours of the initial call.
- Individualized treatment recommendations based on a comprehensive evaluation and information from the family and referral source.
- Responsiveness to communicating with the referring agent.
- Focusing on aiding adolescent clients toward the goal of taking individual responsibility for change with support from their family and case manager.
